Energy Trading Business
LINZ STROM GAS WÄRME GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of LINZ AG, is the leading energy service provider in the metropolitan area of Upper Austria. Since the liberalization of the Austrian electricity market in 1999, the company has also been active in energy trading.
The Energy Management Division is responsible for optimizing power plant operations, performing unit commitment, and trading electricity, natural gas, guarantees of origin (GoO), CO₂ certificates, and natural gas transport capacities. Acting as an internal market maker, it supports the energy generation division and retail companies within the LINZ AG Group. Trading activities are primarily asset-based and cover Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
As flexibility and trading volumes continue to grow — driven by our expanding responsibilities across electricity and gas retail, district heating, power plants, and gas storage facilities with cross-border transit capabilities between Germany and Austria — we are continuously seeking reliable, high-quality trading partners and new business opportunities.
